Finally, our wine and cheese pairing with Small Goods is back!

We’ve put together a “to go” version of our ever-so-popular wine and cheese (and charcuterie) event, which includes three, 4 oz bottles of wine (2019 Clara Rosé, 2015 Sangiovese, and 2013 Syrah) along with a collection of cheeses and charcuterie (see below) selected by Small Goods. It’s a great size for two to share or for one to indulge.

It’s been over a year since our last pairing with Small Goods, and for those of you who don’t know them, they source the absolutely best, artisanal, American cheeses. Stunning stuff.

We will also be hosting a Zoom presentation at 7:30 pm with our winemaker, Eric Van Drunen (Echo), and Certified Cheese Professional® Jenny Eastwood, who will be describing the wines and cheeses and presenting the pairings, along with answering any of your questions about cheese and wine.

~ Cheeses ~

  • Ostinato – This cheese was a collaboration between Soyoung Scanlon of Andante Dairy and Smallgoods. Shaped like a little donut, this awesome goat chevre has a light coating of ash, helping to form a cream line just under the rind. Fresh, tangy and clean on the palette.
  • Aries – Sheep milk & Gouda in style, this tomme is made by an 18 year old cheesemaker and took 3rd place Best in Show at the American Cheese Society’s 2019 competition. Deep and rich tasting, savory with an umami kick, it stands up to strong Reds and is decadent on the palate.
  • Amoureaux – Styled after the French cheese Morbier, with its distinct line of ash thru the center, this goat milk tomme is produced in Missouri, within the heart of Mennonite country. Goat milk from the farm’s own herd is aged for 6 months in this small tomme;  dry and crumbly ,this style plays well with a number of different wines and looks great on the cheese board. And that line of ash IS safe to eat…
  • Pleasant Ridge Reserve – America’s most awarded cheese, this raw milk Cow cheese is fashioned after traditional Alpine styles, typically made on both sides of the French & Swiss Alps. Nutty and rich in flavor, these tommes often have notes of pineapple and can occasionally sport those crunchie Tyronsine crystals we all love.  This cheese is always outstanding with a variety of wines.
  • Charcuterie – TBD

Orders are to be picked up at the winery (8680 Miralani Dr #113, San Diego, CA 92126) on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, between 4:00 – 6:00 pm (orders cannot be delivered). Note orders cannot be placed the day of pick up.


  • Order pick up is at our Miramar winery location, regardless of what you may select for the shipping option at checkout. We are not normally open there on Wednesday – this is a special pick up. Orders are not available for delivery.
  • If you can’t make the Wednesday pick up, you can pick up your order during any of our regular hours (Thu 4-8 pm, Fri 4-8pm, Sat 1-8pm). However, we can’t make any guarantees on how well the wines and cheeses will hold up.
  • Orders must be placed online before the day of pick up.
  • Orders cannot be refunded within 72 hours of pick up.
