winemaker’s notes
Tempranillo harvested on August 11, 2022 and left whole cluster for one day, foot-stomped, and then pressed the next day. Nebbiolo harvested August 26, Grenache on August 30, and Sangiovese on September 7, all straight to press. With each, a gentle, slow, whole-cluster press as for Champagne was used, taking only the taille portion to stainless tank. All spontaneous fermentations. After fermentations complete, wine racked, chilled, and sulfited in June, 2023. Bottled July 9, 2023.
nota bene
A half-sibling to both the Firefly and Whoa Jake! pet-nats (same harvest, different press cut and vinting). The wine is named after Charlie, though that’s not a picture of her on the label.
