winemaker’s notes
Grenache harvested August 30, 2022, and Sangiovese on September 7. Whole-cluster pressed at harvest; cuvee portion placed in Charmat tank. All spontaneous fermentations. Tank sealed a few days later so wine would naturally carbonate as fermentation finished. Months after fermentations complete, wine chilled and sulfited (26 ppm) before bottling in late April of 2023.

nota bene
“Whoa Jake!” was a favorite expression of our mom whenever something surprising happened (she never could explain where the “Jake” part came from), and she makes an appearance on the label each year. This vintage, she’s in the kayak.

Morse Code: “Oh Lord help me” (a favorite expression of our mom)
